Help with Long Model 360

I own a 1986 Long Model 360. Am trying to replace the emergency brake pad. Cant find a dealer that has done it. Have removed wheels and final drives to replace service brakes, am attempting to get the emergency brake unit out of differential case. Have split case from transmission. Have to pto cover off the top and can look down into case at the shoe, cannot get it up from under the gear, do I have to remove the rear cover on differential and remove gears to get it out, or is there a way to replace the pad without doing this.
